Children naturally want their parents to stay together forever. Unfortunately this is not always possible. The social picture has, fortunately, changed over the generations. Unhappy couples no longer have to torment each other for a lifetime.

Patchwork families are not unusual anymore and children from such families can have, besides the disadvantage, quite a few advantages over a traditional family structure.
